Prot. 009.25 Nicosia 16.10.2025

To all Parish Priests, Priests,

Religious women

and all Faithful Parishioners.

Let us begin our Pastoral Year 2025-2026 with optimism, looking to the future with hope. The Latin Church in Cyprus is dedicating this pastoral year as a Year of Prayer for Vocations starting from today, October 26, 2025, until June 14, 2026, the Sunday before the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

This year dedicated to vocations proposes as its theme: “Take courage; get up, he is calling you” (Mk 10:49), and the motto: “Whom shall I send? Who will go for us?” (Is 6:8).

God’s call is a grace that impels us to mission. It is the divine presence that accompanies us and sets our hearts on fire so that together we may set out on the journey. All we need is courage and a response!

The objective of the Vocational Year 2025-2026 is expressed as follows: “To promote a culture of vocation in ecclesial communities, families, and society, so that they may be environments conducive to the awakening of all vocations, as a grace and mission, in the service of the Kingdom of God.” In this way, the Church is understood as a people made up of men and women with vocations. We are therefore called to walk together in following Jesus Christ, our Master, with personal and collective commitment to manifest his presence in the world, becoming bearers of life and hope, even in difficult times.

To better organize the Year of Prayer for Vocations in all the parishes, I would like to give you some practical guidelines:

  1. During this year, the prayer for vocations should be recited at the end of all Masses before the final blessing.
  2. Each month, from December, we will pray for a specific Vocation. The specific prayers will be sent to the parishes.
  3. All the parishioners are invited to be part of the vocational ministry by praying for Vocations, by joining the Prayer Group for Vocations or by welcoming and participating in all the initiatives proposed by the Commission for the Pastoral Care of Vocations.
  4. All the groups, the parishes, are invited to organize rosaries and adoration for Vocations.
  5. All are invited to celebrate the World Day of Prayer for Vocations on the 4th Sunday of Easter.

Dear Fathers, brothers and sisters, I conclude by saying that the purpose of the Year of Vocations in Cyprus is to encourage each person to welcome Jesus’ call as a grace, so that more hearts may burn and more feet may set out on a missionary journey.

Thank you for your collaboration! TOGETHER, let’s take part in the mission of the Holy Spirit in raising awareness concerning God’s call.

May the Lord bless you all!

With my blessing and esteem,
