On May 12, 2026, Msgr. Bruno Varriano, Patriarchal Vicar of Cyprus, hosted a meeting of leaders of the Christian Churches in Cyprus at the Latin Patriarchal Vicariate. The gathering brought together representatives of the Catholic, Maronite, Anglican, Coptic Orthodox, Scandinavian (Lutheran), and Evangelical Churches, along with Mrs. Salpy Eskidjian, Executive Director of the Office of the Religious Track of the Cyprus Peace Process and Msgr. Giorgio Chezza, Charg\u00e9 d\u2019Affaires of the Apostolic Nunciature in Cyprus, both contributing their expertise, from civil society and from the Holy See, respectively, in this important work of fostering dialogue and co-creating a better world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting provided a valuable opportunity for mutual understanding, exchange of perspectives, and discussion of shared challenges in the pastoral care of Christians on the island. Topics included the legal recognition of Churches, cooperation in addressing social issues, and the importance of dialogue and fraternity among Christian communities. The leaders agreed on the need for continued collaboration and proposed that future meetings be held regularly, with the next gatherings to be hosted later this year by the Orthodox Archbishopric and the Apostolic Nunciature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This gathering reflects the commitment of the Christian Churches in Cyprus to work together in unity, dialogue, and shared pastoral care for the faithful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
