On the 17th of July, Bishop Bruno Varriano, Patriarchal Vicar of Cyprus, had an important meeting with the newly appointed Chief of Police of Cyprus, Mr. Themistos Arnaoutis. Also present was Mr. Ioannis Mavrohannas, the Assistant Chief of Police of Cyprus. Mrs. Antonella Mantovani, our dear representative for the Latins in the parliament was present to manage the convocation.
The meeting marked a new step in building mutual understanding and cooperation between the Latin Catholic Church and the law enforcement institutions of the Republic. Bishop Bruno took the opportunity to share the activities and mission of the Latin Catholic community in Cyprus and to explore ways for future collaboration, particularly in areas concerning the safety and integration of communities across the island.
Mr. Arnaoutis warmly received Bishop Bruno and expressed appreciation for the work of the Catholic Church, emphasizing the role of dialogue and cooperation in building a more cohesive society. The Bishop in turn offered his gratitude to the Cyprus Police Force for their continued service to the community and their openness to engage with faith leaders.
