Jerusalem, 10 June 2025 – This afternoon, between 2:30 and 3:00 PM, an act of vandalism occurred at the Holy Cross Church in Nicosia. A young individual, who identified himself as Pacifique, entered the church and caused significant damage to the sanctuary.
The vandal destroyed several sacred objects, including the altar, decorations surrounding the tabernacle, candlestands, the lectionary, and potted plants. According to eyewitnesses, the individual appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the incident. The entire event was captured on camera.
Local authorities were immediately notified and arrived promptly at the scene. A formal police report was filed, accompanied by photographic and video evidence of the damage.
An assessment of the total damage is currently underway.
