On the evening of Monday, March 16, 2026, His Excellency Bishop Bruno Varriano, Patriarchal Vicar of the Latins in Cyprus, celebrated a solemn Mass marking the second anniversary of his episcopal ordination. The Mass was attended by H.E. Archbishop Selim Jean Sfeir, Maronite Archbishop of Cyprus, Msgr. Giorgio Chezza, Chargé d’Affaires a.i., Embassy of the Vatican in Cyprus, along with a group of priests and members of the faithful.
In his homily, Bishop Varriano emphasized that the service of the Church is a continuous mission requiring patience and faith, sometimes facing rejection, yet embracing all and persisting despite challenges. He highlighted the importance of unity in diversity, noting that the Catholic Church in Cyprus brings together people from various nations and cultures, and that this diversity is a blessing and opportunity to strengthen love and unity.
He also stressed that the bishop’s work is carried out in collaboration with priests, religious sisters, families, and the wider community, aiming to build a cohesive and vibrant Christian community. He called on everyone to continue praying for him to serve faithfully as a shepherd guided by the Holy Spirit.
Finally, he reminded all that the ultimate goal is for the faithful to be genuine witnesses of the joy of belonging to Jesus Christ and His Church, embodying God’s love in Cyprus through their lives and initiatives.
